Building Vectis Mail from Australia

Vectis Mail is built and operated by Veltara Works, an independent software company based in Australia and founded by Ian Holt. Email is critical infrastructure, and we run it that way: when you need help you reach the people who build and operate the platform directly — not an outsourced first-response tier reading from a script.

The reason Vectis Mail exists: email is critical infrastructure, yet most teams hand it to providers they can't inspect, can't customise, and can't audit. Vectis Mail is the alternative — a production-grade self-hosted mail server you can deploy with one command, manage through a REST API and admin UI, and is designed to grow with you as your needs change.

Two principles we'll put in writing. No lock-in — and no lock-out: Vectis Mail is self-hosted and source-available, and every release converts to Apache 2.0 four years on, so your mail runs on infrastructure you own and control — independent of us. Pro's licensing backend is a configurable endpoint — ValidonX is the default we operate, not a hardwired dependency — and no mail or message data ever passes through it. We run on it ourselves: every domain Veltara Works operates already lives on Vectis Mail — here's exactly how.

Vectis Mail sits under the Veltara Works umbrella, alongside ValidonX (licensing, billing, and identity) and Pharlux (single-binary OpenTelemetry observability) — a portfolio of infrastructure tools for operators who want full control of their stack. Together they form an operations foundation for self-hosted infrastructure.
